C.S. Lewis’ “The Screwtape Letters” is now out as an audio drama by Focus on the Family. Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bring Lewis’ classic work to life.

The secret’s out. You’ve stumbled upon a mysterious series of recorded conversations between two demons tasked with securing the demise of their human “patients.” Featuring a top-notch cast, cinema-quality sound and more than four hours of delightfully disturbing (and often diabolically humorous) entertainment, The Screwtape Letters will open your eyes and ears to the devil’s schemes — and to the One who has overcome them.

I’ve always been a fan of creating “wordles” — visual representations of the frequency of words within a passage of text. We see this all the time on the Internet with “tag clouds” and such. Of course, what they convey is that, by the frequency of certain words, we can tell how *important* those topics are to the writer, publication, blog owner, and so on.

Here is a Wordle that I just created using the entire text of the Book of Esther. It is interesting how prominent the word “King” is — especially when we remember that this is a book about how there is a King (God) working “behind the scenes” to protect His people and accomplish His will.

Welcome to our new media site!

GatheringChurchMedia.org started out as a place to house recorded sermons from The Gathering Church, in Cabot, Arkansas.

As we were creating the site, we decided that it would be beneficial to use this site as a place to also post any other media that seems edifying, funny (but clean), or simply of general interest to not only our church members, but anyone. As such, our intent is to keep this site updated with a steady stream of fresh, interesting, and relevant video and audio content.

If, at the same time, we are able to bless you through our sermon ministry, all the better.

We are still doing a bit of work on the site — so, please pardon our construction.

Grace!

What happens when we deny we are sinners? 1 John says that makes us liars and the truth is not in us. What happens when Jesus sheds His blood for our sins? We receive grace. This hope-filled video illustration compares the effects of iodine and food coloring to sin and grace.

One of the most anticipated and comprehensive Study Bibles of the year, The Transformation Study Bible has been a lifetime in the making by a man who is the former pastor of The Moody Church in Chicago, an internationally known Bible teacher, and someone who has given his life to a deep examination of the Word of God.

For over thirty years, millions have come to rely on the timeless wisdom of Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe’s “Be” Commentary series. Dr. Wiersbe’s commentary and insights on Scripture have helped readers understand and apply God’s Word with the goal of life transformation.

This is a must-own Bible for everyday use by all Christians who want to get more out of their study of Scripture. Due September 1, 2009.
